Closer To The Sun and Further Away, 2024
Video Art 00:50s/ Ink on Paper 22 pieces (14.5 x 15cm each)

In this series of works on paper “Closer To The Sun And Further Away” weaves a narrative that traverses the spectrum of human experience, intertwining motifs of proximity and distance to the sun. The cyclical nature of this journey mirrors the perpetual motion of celestial bodies, as one moves closer to the sun, only to eventually drift away again. This cyclicality speaks to the ebb and flow of human motives and emotions, echoing the transient nature of our perceptions and desires.

In essence it is a testament to the human spirit's insatiable quest for understanding and enlightenment.  Grounded in scientific metaphors, mythological tales like Icarus, and experiential studies of the sun’s shifting presence, each piece represents a phase—seeking, approaching, receding, and reflecting—capturing the eternal interplay between closeness and clarity.

As one draws closer, the rising temperature evokes feelings of passion, ambition, or enlightenment but also discomfort, danger, or destruction. Conversely, the cooling effect of distance offers relief, reflection, or even longing, highlighting the emotional shifts tied to proximity and separation. Through its symbolism and evocative imagery, this work invites viewers to embark on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening, where the sun serves as both a guide and a gateway to deeper realms of consciousness.
